Voyager Space, a trailblazer in space exploration, has proudly announced its latest milestone: securing a contract from Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing Company, to fabricate cutting-edge Flight Model Star Trackers (µSTAR-250). This prestigious agreement includes the construction of 13 Flight Models and two Engineering Models, with phased delivery scheduled from late 2024 to early 2025 to bolster Millennium’s small satellite constellation programs.
Voyager’s µSTAR-250 Star Tracker heralds the dawn of a new era in tracking technology, harnessing the power of Scientific CMOS innovation to achieve unparalleled precision with minimal read noise. Designed to furnish exact situational awareness in space, encompassing satellite attitude and rate determination, the µSTAR-250’s robustness and radiation resilience render it indispensable for extended missions across various orbital domains, including Low Earth Orbit (LEO), Medium Earth Orbit (MEO), Geostationary Orbit (GEO), and cislunar orbits. With an illustrious legacy boasting thousands of hours in space on a classified program, this star tracker stands as a testament to Voyager’s commitment to excellence.
Frank Morgan, Chief Operating Officer of Voyager Space, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are honored to have been selected by Millennium Space Systems to play a pivotal role in their upcoming mission. Our µSTAR-250 Star Trackers signify a significant leap forward in satellite navigation and performance within the dynamic realm of space exploration. We eagerly anticipate equipping Millennium with the tools to fortify their constellations’ precision, reliability, and adaptability.”
The µSTAR-250’s capability for real-time on-orbit calibration, coupled with its space-flight-proven software and algorithms utilising the Pyramid Code for star identification, ensures swift and accurate data output. Additionally, it offers the provision of raw image data and can be tailored for Space Domain Awareness. Manufactured in San Diego, California, the µSTAR-250 is fully compliant with the National Defense Authorisation Act (NDAA) 2021 domestic sourcing specifications, thereby adhering to regulatory standards.
Voyager Space’s comprehensive portfolio of electro-optic subsystems extends beyond the µSTAR-250, encompassing a range of offerings including SpaceCam™ 5MP and 9MP, Coarse and Medium Sun Sensors, in addition to various other Star Trackers.
