Beijing, September 2025 – The 8th COMAC International Science and Technology Innovation Week, themed “Sky Link: Sustainable Aviation for the Future”, officially opened at the Beijing Aeronautical Science & Technology Research Institute (BASTRI) of the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC). The event brought together over 500 experts and scholars from government agencies, universities, enterprises, research institutions, customers, and industry associations across nine countries and regions.
The opening ceremony featured speeches by key figures including Mr. He Dongfeng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of COMAC; Mr. Zhang Jun, Secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Mr. Oscar García, President of Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM); and Mr. Gustavo Alonso, Director of the Higher School of Aeronautical and Space Engineering at UPM. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Luo Xiao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of COMAC.
Highlights of the week included a keynote speech by Mr. Xue Qikun, winner of the State Preeminent Science and Technology Award, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and President of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). Additionally, Mr. Wu Wensheng, Vice President of COMAC, and Mr. Wu Guanghui, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and COMAC Chief Scientist, jointly announced the project cooperation requirements for this year’s Innovation Week.
The event underscored COMAC’s commitment to fostering international collaboration and advancing sustainable aviation technologies, bringing together leading minds from academia, industry, and research to shape the future of the aerospace sector.
