Melbourne, FL, January 22, 2025: Embraer, a global leader in the aerospace industry, has partnered with Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) to develop its largest onsite solar energy generation project. Located at Embraer’s Executive Jets headquarters in Melbourne, Florida, this cutting-edge initiative represents a significant step in the company’s sustainability journey.
Through FPL’s SolarVantage program, the project will feature over 1,900 solar panels capable of generating up to 1,800 MWh of emissions-free energy annually. This capacity will power much of Embraer’s Customer Center facility, marking the first time an Embraer U.S. site will utilize renewable energy for its operations. The initiative aligns with Embraer’s global goal of achieving 100% renewable energy use across all facilities by 2030.
“This project marks a significant milestone for our company. It signifies our commitment to the future of sustainable aviation and our dedication to sustainable growth,” said Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of Embraer. “Recognizing the urgency of the climate crisis, we understand the importance of transitioning to a low-carbon economy.
The need to adapt our industry to this new context presents a significant opportunity for growth and innovation.” The collaboration with FPL offers Embraer a seamless path to adopting renewable energy. Through the SolarVantage program, FPL provides turnkey solutions, handling the design, installation, and maintenance of the solar assets at no upfront cost to customers.
“We are excited to welcome Embraer to our FPL SolarVantage program,” said Tim Oliver, Vice President of Development for FPL. “We applaud their commitment to sustainable energy sources that help keep our air and water clean now and for years to come.”
Michael Amalfitano, President and CEO of Embraer Executive Jets, highlighted how the project enhances the company’s operational efficiency: “Transitioning a significant portion of our Melbourne campus energy consumption to a more sustainable model will ensure that our industry-leading business jets are supported by an equally advanced and environmentally responsible infrastructure.”
This solar initiative complements Embraer’s broader sustainability goals, including the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in its flight operations from Melbourne. The solar installation is expected to become operational by the end of 2025, further cementing Embraer’s leadership in environmental stewardship and innovation in aviation.
