KAZAN HELICOPTERS TRIUMPHS AT RUSSIA’S CYBERDROME CHALLENGE

The Ochpochdron team from Kazan Helicopters, part of the Russian Helicopters holding under Rostec State Corporation, has clinched first place in the grand final of Russia’s prestigious “Cyberdrome” competition. This year, the Kazan crew stood out as the sole representatives from the Republic of Tatarstan, emerging victorious against 10 elite teams from across the country in the finals held at Moscow’s Rudnevo Industrial Park.

Comprising students from Kazan’s 179th gymnasium, trainees from the P.V. Dementyev Cultural and Cultural Complex, and young employees from Kazan Helicopters’ Production and Training Centre, the Ochpochdron team showcased their prowess over two demanding days of competition. Day one saw them excel across five rigorous stages, demonstrating both theoretical knowledge and practical skill in drone operations. On the second day, they defended their engineering projects and took to the skies in a high-stakes drone race.

“The victory of our team is the result of hard work and high-quality training, in which many people took part. We are proud of this collective achievement,” said Nikolay Yakovlev, General Director of Kazan Helicopters. “What makes this project special is how it unites schoolchildren, university students, and young professionals from our plant. Their collaboration not only builds teamwork but also prepares them to tackle real-world production challenges.”

The scale of the competition was no small feat: out of 68 teams that entered the semi-finals, only 10 advanced to the decisive stage. Kazan Helicopters has been a regular contender since 2021, twice securing silver before this year’s breakthrough win.

Cyberdrome’s mission is clear—to foster a new generation of talent in unmanned aircraft systems and ground robotics while promoting the integration of innovative technologies to serve Russia’s industrial and socio-economic goals.
