Cairo, 20 May 2025 – In a decisive move to modernise its communications infrastructure and future-proof operations, EGYPTAIR has partnered with SITA, the global leader in air transport technology, to implement cutting-edge network solutions across its operations. The strategic agreement marks a significant milestone in the airline’s digital transformation journey and reinforces its role as a central aviation hub in the Middle East and Africa.
At the heart of the collaboration is SITA Connect Go, a next-generation connectivity platform designed to enhance bandwidth, improve resilience, bolster cybersecurity, and streamline automation. This upgrade provides the Egyptian flag carrier with scalable, cloud-native technology that ensures secure connectivity across its network of airports, while also improving visibility and control through advanced infrastructure protection and Secure Service Edge (SSE) management.
In addition to boosting core infrastructure, EGYPTAIR will implement SITA’s Community Departure Control System (DCS), designed to improve ground handling efficiency and reduce costs. This move away from legacy systems positions the airline to respond with agility to increased passenger volumes and growing operational complexity.
The partnership was formalised during a signing ceremony in Cairo, attended by Captain Ahmed Adel, Chairman & CEO of EGYPTAIR Holding Company, and Selim Bouri, President, Middle East & Africa at SITA. Signing the agreement were Eng. Yasser Omran, Head of the Information Sector at EGYPTAIR Holding Company, and Houssam Dakroub, Director, North & French-speaking Africa at SITA.
“Airlines across the Middle East and Africa are facing a period of rapid change,” noted Bouri. “Passenger demand is surging, airports are getting busier, and the pressure to operate more efficiently, securely, and sustainably has never been greater. EgyptAir’s investment in network transformation ensures it is equipped to meet these challenges head-on.”
This collaboration supports broader national goals to advance Egypt’s civil aviation sector through innovation and digitalisation. The adoption of SITA’s smart solutions is expected to drive performance, improve service quality, and support the country’s ambitions to become a regional centre for aviation and IT services.
“By adopting cutting-edge solutions, we are enhancing our communication systems to support growth in tourism and travel, ensuring operational excellence and a superior passenger experience,” said Captain Ahmed Adel. “This partnership with SITA is a cornerstone of our digital transformation strategy.”
SITA, which operates in over 200 countries and territories, brings to the table a comprehensive portfolio of services for the aviation sector, including recent acquisitions that have expanded its reach into maritime, rail, and urban air mobility markets. The company remains wholly owned by the air transport industry, ensuring that its innovations are driven by and for the sector.
For EgyptAir, this partnership is more than a technical upgrade—it is a forward-looking investment in resilience, passenger satisfaction, and long-term growth on both regional and international fronts.
