New Delhi, June 2025 – The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Amadeus have announced the integration of IATA CO2 Connect into the Amadeus Travel Platform, marking a significant advancement in providing flight-specific emissions data at the point of booking.
This integration empowers airlines, travel agents, corporate travel managers, and online platforms to access trusted and transparent carbon emissions information using real operational data. Over 70 airlines have contributed aircraft type-specific fuel consumption data to IATA CO2 Connect, calculated using a globally standardised methodology.
“Our agreement with Amadeus will help fulfill traveler expectations for greater transparency as airlines progress towards net zero carbon emissions by 2050,” stated Willie Walsh, IATA’s Director General. “IATA surveys reveal that nearly 90% of passengers want emissions data for booked flights, yet 79% find current calculations inconsistent. This collaboration offers accurate, consistent information to support more sustainable travel choices.”
The emissions calculator’s recent certification under ISO 14083 aligns it with international standards for greenhouse gas data collection and reporting. This positions IATA CO2 Connect as a leading tool ahead of the upcoming Count Emissions EU regulations that will govern emissions calculations across all transport modes within the European Union.
Decius Valmorbida, President of Travel at Amadeus, welcomed the integration: “More and more, travellers want to understand how their flight choices affect the environment. This is crucial not only for personal trips but also for companies needing to comply with emissions regulations. Our platform now helps users make informed, responsible decisions.”
Participation in the program continues to grow, with Air India, Thai Airways, Atlas Air, Batik Air Malaysia, Batik Air Indonesia, Lion Air, and Thai Lion recently joining. IATA anticipates reaching 100 contributing airlines by the end of 2025, underlining the momentum behind emissions transparency in air travel.
