Connecting Skies • Bridging Continents

AIR AUSTRAL AND MADAGASCAR AIRLINES FORGE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP

Air Austral and Madagascar Airlines have officially signed a codeshare and Special Prorate Agreement, signalling a revitalised commercial partnership aimed at enhancing regional and international connectivity. The landmark agreement, signed at the Paris Air Show, ushers in a new strategic chapter for both carriers, strengthening their joint footprint across the Indian Ocean and beyond.

The alliance is set to unlock greater travel opportunities and fare options for passengers of both airlines. As part of the agreement, Madagascar Airlines customers will enjoy seamless access to long-haul destinations such as Bangkok and Johannesburg via Réunion Island, a hub for Air Austral. In return, Air Austral gains access to Madagascar Airlines’ domestic network, enhancing its reach across the island nation.

This development aligns with Madagascar Airlines’ Phenix 2030 Plan—a long-term strategy to revitalise the airline and boost national tourism. The enhanced connectivity is expected to provide a much-needed lift to Madagascar’s tourism sector, positioning the island as a more accessible and attractive destination.

The codeshare flights will be available starting June 27, with both airlines working closely to ensure a streamlined experience for travellers. With this strategic partnership, Air Austral and Madagascar Airlines are not only deepening bilateral ties but also paving the way for broader regional cooperation among Indian Ocean islands.
