BELL TEXTRON DELIVERS 40 BELL 505 HELICOPTERS TO REPUBLIC OF KOREA ARMED FORCES

Bell Textron Inc., a Textron Inc. company, has successfully completed the delivery of 40 Bell 505 helicopters to the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA) and Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN), fulfilling its contract with the Defence Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) signed in May 2022.

The delivery marks a significant milestone for Bell, which managed to meet an ambitious production and handover schedule despite global supply chain disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. David Sale, Managing Director for Asia Pacific at Bell, commented, “With a fleet of 40 Bell 505 aircraft and eight simulators, complemented by a comprehensive aftermarket support program, Bell remains committed to collaborating with DAPA and the ROK Armed Forces to ensure operational readiness.”

The Republic of Korea joins a growing list of countries adopting the Bell 505 as a primary rotary-wing training platform. Government agencies across the globe—including the Indonesian Navy, Jamaican Air Force, Japan Coast Guard, Armed Forces of Montenegro, Iraqi Army Aviation Command, and the Royal Jordanian Air Force—also rely on the Bell 505 for training missions.

Equipped with a Safran Arrius 2R engine, dual-channel FADEC, and the Garmin G1000H NXi avionics suite, the Bell 505 is considered one of the most advanced light helicopters in its class. Pilots benefit from a high-visibility open cabin, wraparound windows, a glass cockpit, and Synthetic Vision technology—all designed to improve situational awareness.

Since its introduction in 2017, more than 500 Bell 505s have been delivered worldwide, logging over 100,000 flight hours across diverse operational environments.
