BARIG COMMUNITY EXPANDS WITH MSC AIR CARGO ONBOARD

Frankfurt am Main, 15 July 2025 — The Board of Airline Representatives in Germany (BARIG) has announced the latest addition to its growing cargo membership, welcoming MSC Air Cargo into its ranks. This move further strengthens BARIG’s position as a key advocate for the international air cargo industry in Germany.

Part of the globally recognised MSC Group, MSC Air Cargo operates a fleet of brand-new Boeing B777-200 freighters, serving major air freight routes across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. The carrier brings a wealth of experience to the association, reinforcing BARIG’s ongoing commitment to advancing the logistics landscape in Germany.

“We are delighted that MSC Air Cargo joins our BARIG community and brings a high level of expertise in the air freight sector,” said Michael Hoppe, BARIG Chairman and Executive Director. “The industry in Germany has been facing numerous challenges, such as high location costs, complex processes, and a high level of bureaucracy. With the practical knowledge of our more than 30 international cargo airlines, we are committed to achieving measurable relief, accelerating processes, and improving the overall framework conditions for air freight in Germany.”

In light of these efforts, BARIG’s Air Cargo Committee has undergone recent restructuring and now operates under a new co-chairmanship—making it more agile in addressing the sector’s current issues.

MSC Air Cargo CEO Jannie Davel echoed the sentiment, highlighting the strategic importance of joining BARIG. “With the third highest gross domestic product in the world, Germany is an important business location. Therefore, it is important for us as a BARIG member to be even more closely connected within Germany’s air cargo industry,” he said. “We look forward to the constructive exchange and project development in the community.”

BARIG now represents over 100 airlines across scheduled, charter, low-cost, and air cargo segments. With the addition of MSC Air Cargo, more than 30 international cargo carriers are actively involved in shaping the future of German air freight through BARIG.
