TRUENOORD DELIVERS FACTORY-NEW ATR42-600 TO AFRIJET BUSINESS SERVICE

AMSTERDAM/DUBLIN/LONDON/SINGAPORE – TrueNoord has delivered a factory-new ATR42-600 (MSN 1801) to Afrijet Business Service S.A., operating as FLYGABON, on a long-term operating lease. This delivery completes Afrijet’s transition from ATR-500 series aircraft to the latest-generation ATR-600 turboprops, establishing the airline as the operator of the youngest ATR-600 fleet in Africa.

The aircraft is TrueNoord’s first ATR fitted with Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127XT engines, which offer operational cost savings, extended overhaul intervals, reduced maintenance costs, and lower CO₂ emissions. It will primarily serve domestic routes within Gabon, including remote destinations, enhancing national and regional connectivity.

“This versatile aircraft will mainly fly domestic routes within Gabon, and it has the ability to serve remote destinations,” said Marc Gaffajoli, Chairman of Afrijet Business Service. “Thanks to the delivery of this aircraft, Afrijet Business Service now has the youngest ATR-600 series fleet in Africa. It is the most modern and fuel-efficient turboprop currently in production, and we have built a great relationship with TrueNoord through this tailored financing solution.”

Maarten Grift, TrueNoord’s Sales Director for Africa, the Middle East & CIS, added: “TrueNoord is delighted to welcome Afrijet Business Service as a new lessee and to support their fleet modernisation. Leasing this latest technology, fuel-efficient turboprop to Afrijet is part of our strategy to underpin airline growth ambitions in Africa and support the continuous improvement of the regional fleet.”

Afrijet becomes the fifth African airline in TrueNoord’s customer portfolio, expanding the lessor’s fleet in the region to ten aircraft. TrueNoord now owns more than 100 turboprops, regional jets, and crossover aircraft on lease to over 30 operators in 24 countries, with operations supported by its offices in Amsterdam, Dublin, London, and Singapore.
