AIRASIA STRENGTHENS FUEL EFFICIENCY DRIVE WITH GE AEROSPACE’S FUEL INSIGHT

CINCINNATI, Ohio – 13 August 2025 – AirAsia, one of the world’s leading low-cost carriers, is taking a significant step in its sustainability and cost-optimisation journey through a renewed partnership with GE Aerospace. The airline will deploy Fuel Insight, a data-driven analytics platform, across its entire fleet to enhance fuel efficiency and operational performance.

The collaboration, part of GE Aerospace’s Software as a Service portfolio, will span all of AirAsia Aviation Group’s Air Operator Certificates (AOCs) in Southeast Asia. By harnessing real flight and operational data, Fuel Insight will provide actionable intelligence to improve route planning, reduce unnecessary fuel burn, and strengthen overall reliability.

Datuk Captain Chester Voo, Deputy Group CEO (Airline Operations) of AirAsia Aviation Group, described the agreement as a strategic move to refine fuel management processes across the Group. “GE Aerospace’s technology enables us to make smarter, data-informed decisions that support both our cost-efficiency and sustainability strategies, helping us operate more efficiently and in turn, offer more competitive fares for our guests,” he said.

Andrew Coleman, General Manager of GE Aerospace’s Software as a Service division, emphasised AirAsia’s longstanding leadership in operational innovation. “Fuel Insight is all about empowering airlines with the data and tools they need to safely operate more efficiently and more sustainably. AirAsia has been a trailblazer in this regard for over a decade and we are excited to see its ambition to build on this strength and lead our industry to new heights,” he said.

AirAsia’s remarkable growth story
Founded in 2001 when Tony Fernandes and Kamarudin Meranun took over a struggling airline with just two aircraft and 200 staff, AirAsia has since grown into Asia’s fourth-largest airline. Today, its fleet of more than 200 aircraft and 21,000 staff serve over 130 destinations, having carried more than 800 million passengers. With its mission to “serve the underserved” and the famous tagline Now Everyone Can Fly, AirAsia has been credited with democratising air travel across the region.

GE Aerospace: defining the future of flight
GE Aerospace, with approximately 49,000 commercial and 29,000 military engines in service worldwide, employs around 53,000 people globally. With a century of innovation behind it, the company continues to develop advanced propulsion, services, and systems, working alongside airline partners to improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability in aviation.
