AIR CÔTE D’IVOIRE TAKES DELIVERY OF ITS FIRST ROLLS-ROYCE POWERED AIRBUS A330NEO

Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, September 2025 – Air Côte d’Ivoire has taken delivery of its first widebody aircraft, an Airbus A330neo powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines. The aircraft completed its delivery flight from Airbus’ facility in Toulouse, arriving at Abidjan’s Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport this afternoon at 17:30 UTC.

The handover was marked by a joint celebration between Rolls-Royce, Airbus, and Air Côte d’Ivoire.

“We are proud to power Air Côte d’Ivoire’s first widebody aircraft with our Trent 7000 engines,” said Omar Ali Adib, Senior Vice President, Customers, Rolls-Royce. “This is a significant milestone for both the airline and the region, as it expands connectivity and supports the growth of long-haul travel across West Africa. The Trent 7000 combines proven reliability with the latest efficiency and durability enhancements, ensuring Air Côte d’Ivoire can operate with confidence, efficiency, and sustainability from day one. We welcome this delivery and our new Rolls-Royce customer in Africa.”

Trent 7000 – Engineering by Numbers

The Trent 7000, the exclusive engine for the A330neo, is the seventh in the Trent family — the most successful engine family in aviation history, with more than 200 million flying hours since the first Trent entered service 30 years ago. Delivering between 68,000 and 72,000lb of thrust, the engine brings a 14% improvement in fuel burn per seat and is 6dB quieter than its predecessor, the Trent 700, which powered the original A330ceo.

Notable engineering highlights include:

  • A front fan just under 10 feet (9.3) in diameter, drawing in up to 1.3 tonnes of air per second at take-off.
  • 20 hollow titanium fan blades, each formed through super-plastic forming and diffusion bonding.
  • High-pressure turbine blades rotating at 12,500rpm, with tip speeds reaching 1,200mph – nearly twice the speed of sound.
  • Blades operating in environments exceeding 2,000°C, protected by advanced cooling systems.
  • Full compatibility with 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and 98% recyclability under the Rolls-Royce Revert programme.

With this milestone, Air Côte d’Ivoire strengthens its fleet capabilities, positioning itself to expand its international network and long-haul connectivity across the region.
