Embraer (NYSE: EMBJ / B3: EMBJ3) has activated its largest global solar energy generation project at its Executive Jets headquarters in Melbourne, Florida. Partnering with Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) through the FPL SolarVantage program, the installation represents a major step toward Embraer’s goal of operating entirely on renewable energy across all global sites by 2030.
The solar array features more than 1,900 panels and is the first at a U.S. Embraer facility designed to offset on-site energy consumption. With a capacity to supply up to 1,800 MWh annually, the system can power the majority of the company’s Customer Center facility, significantly reducing Embraer’s carbon footprint in North America.
In addition to the Melbourne headquarters, Embraer is expanding its use of solar energy across other Florida locations via FPL’s SolarTogether program. This voluntary subscription initiative allows participants to access large-scale solar energy benefits without installing or maintaining panels. Collectively, Embraer’s participating sites have the potential to offset approximately 10 million MWh in their first year.
“By integrating renewable energy into our facilities, we’re one step closer to our sustainability targets and reinforcing our commitment to innovation that benefits both our customers and the communities in which we operate,” said Andreza Alberto, Vice-President of People, ESG and Communications at Embraer. “We look forward to expanding this effort beyond our state-of-the-art Customer Center and into additional buildings across our Melbourne campus and other locations throughout Florida.”
This solar expansion underscores Embraer’s broader ESG strategy, which also includes increased use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in operations at its Melbourne facilities, demonstrating the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and innovation.
