FL TECHNICS ENGINE SERVICES EXPANDS KAUNAS SHOP TO MEET GROWING CFM56 ENGINE DEMAND

FL Technics Engine Services has expanded its Kaunas facility from five to eight bays to enhance maintenance capacity for CFM56 engines, improving turnaround times and support for global airlines.

Kaunas, Lithuania – FL Technics Engine Services, a subsidiary of the global MRO provider FL Technics Group, has expanded its engine shop in Kaunas from five to eight fully equipped bays, increasing capacity by 60 percent. The expansion comes in response to rising global demand for CFM56 engine maintenance as airlines continue to extend the life of their existing fleets amid technical challenges and persistent parts shortages affecting newer-generation engines.

The Kaunas facility is certified exclusively for the CFM56 engine family, the most widely used in commercial aviation.

Approximately 70 percent of the shop’s work focuses on CFM56‑7B engines, with the remaining workload divided between CFM56‑5B and CFM56‑3 models. The added capacity allows the shop to handle more complex repairs, accommodate urgent AOG situations, and reduce turnaround times.

According to Valerij Deveikis, CEO of FL Technics Engine Services, the additional bays improve operational flexibility and responsiveness. “Previously, when all five bays were occupied, it limited our ability to accept quick-turn repairs or larger projects,” Deveikis said. “With eight bays, we can maintain high-quality service even during peak demand.”

The expansion project also includes growing the team, combining experienced professionals with young talent from Lithuanian universities and aviation schools to develop skills in engine maintenance.

As an EASA Part-145 certified company, FL Technics Engine Services provides quick-turn services, on-wing support, engine repair, teardowns, and module swaps for the CFM56‑3, CFM56‑5B, and CFM56‑7B engines. The Kaunas shop is located in the Kaunas Free Economic Zone.

FL Technics Group operates globally, with 23 subsidiaries across Europe, the Americas, and Indonesia. Its MRO network includes four heavy maintenance hangars, over 80 line maintenance stations, and multiple service verticals such as engine repair, wheels and brakes, aircraft engineering (CAMO and TAM), technical training (Part‑147), design and production, and aerospace logistics.
