Dubai, UAE, 17 November 2025 – GE Aerospace has unveiled plans for a major expansion of its regional presence with a new, purpose-built On Wing Support (OWS) facility at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH) in Dubai South. Announced on the opening day of the Dubai Airshow, the investment marks a significant commitment to supporting the growing CFM LEAP engine fleet and preparing for the entry into service of the GE9X engine.
The new leased facility will span 120,000 square feet—quadrupling the size of GE Aerospace’s current 29,000 square-foot location. The upgrade strengthens the company’s service footprint in the Middle East and enhances its ability to deliver high-demand maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities. Beyond LEAP and GE9X support, the site will serve as a centre for field deployments, advanced technology development, and internal and external training.
For the first time in the history of GE Aerospace’s OWS network, the Dubai South facility will include dedicated MRO training infrastructure, aimed at expanding team expertise and meeting customer training requirements.
“This investment underscores GE Aerospace’s unwavering commitment to supporting our customers in the Middle East and beyond,” said Farah Borges, Vice President of Assembly, Test & MRO for GE Aerospace. “As the demand for LEAP engine services continues to grow, this facility will enable us to deliver world-class maintenance, repair, and overhaul capabilities on a larger scale, while positioning us to support the future entry into service of the GE9X engine.”
GE Aerospace’s OWS organisation performs around 35% of all LEAP overhaul shop visits worldwide, contributing to improved reliability, predictability and time on wing for operators. The expanded Dubai facility will allow the OWS team to scale overhaul operations while continuing to provide quick-turn maintenance, lease pool support and field services for GE Aerospace, CFM International and Engine Alliance engines.
The strategic decision to establish the facility at MBRAH reflects the UAE’s rising prominence as a global aviation hub. Located within Dubai South—future home of what is planned to be the world’s largest airport, Al Maktoum International—the aerospace hub offers seamless access to air, sea and ground logistics within an integrated, connectivity-focused ecosystem.
“We are delighted to welcome GE Aerospace’s new facility to Dubai South, further strengthening our position as a leading global hub for aviation and aerospace innovation,” said Tahnoon Saif, CEO of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub. “This partnership reflects the shared vision of fostering growth and delivering world-class services to the industry.”
A groundbreaking ceremony will take place during the Dubai Airshow. Construction is scheduled to begin in December 2025, with completion expected in the first quarter of 2027.
