Greece strengthens its aerial surveillance and emergency response fleet with the arrival of three fully equipped DA62 MPP special mission aircraft.
Diamond Aircraft Industries has confirmed the delivery of three DA62 MPP (Multi-Purpose Platform) aircraft to the Greek Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection. The handover, completed in October and announced from Wiener Neustadt on 17 November 2025, forms part of a wider programme to expand Greece’s capacity for aerial monitoring, firefighting support, and real-time emergency coordination.
Â
The DA62 MPPs have been configured with a suite of surveillance and communication systems designed for year-round operations. Among the key technologies on board are the Trakka TC-375 EO/IR camera, offering high-resolution imaging for both daylight and night missions, and the Smith Myers ARTEMIS mobile phone localisation system, which enables accurate tracking of mobile devices during search and rescue activity. The aircraft are also fitted with the CarteNav AIMS-ISR mission management system to streamline planning, execution, and data handling.
Â
Operational connectivity has been strengthened through line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight datalinks, 4G/5G capability, and maritime VHF radio to support coastal coordination. Together, these systems allow intelligence and mission data to be transmitted directly to ground stations in real time.
Â
Mario Spiegel, Head of Sales for Diamond Special Mission Aircraft, said the delivery reflects the company’s commitment to supporting governments with advanced aerial solutions. He noted that the DA62 MPP has been engineered for efficient, high-performance operations in demanding environments, and expressed confidence that the fleet will enhance Greece’s ability to respond to climate-related emergencies.
Â
The contract covers more than the aircraft themselves. It includes ground stations, training, spare parts, and long-term support. Prime contractor ATESE S.A., working with Diamond Aircraft and local representative IHOR, guided the project from demonstration flights in November 2022 through to final delivery.
Â
Diamond Aircraft says it remains dedicated to innovation in the special mission sector and is honoured to support Greece in its efforts to protect both citizens and natural resources.
