Strategic partnership expands regional and international networks, offering passengers seamless travel across Africa and beyond.
Luanda/Johannesburg – 1 December 2025 – TAAG Angola Airlines and South African Airways (SAA) have announced a strategic codeshare agreement to enhance connectivity across Africa and key international destinations. The collaboration leverages Luanda, Johannesburg, and Cape Town as central hubs, enabling passengers smoother and more flexible travel options.
The agreement allows SAA to add its flight code to TAAG-operated services from Johannesburg and Cape Town to Luanda, as well as onward connections from Luanda to Lisbon, Portugal, and São Paulo, Brazil. In return, TAAG gains access to key SAA destinations, including Durban, Gqeberha, Cape Town, Harare, and Lusaka.
Travellers will benefit from a broader selection of destinations, the convenience of a single ticket in local currency, and integrated check-in and baggage processes. The partnership also enables joint marketing and sales efforts, expanding the commercial reach of both airlines.
Nelson Rodrigues de Oliveira, CEO of TAAG, commented: “This alliance with South African Airways enhances our continental connectivity, opening new international destinations for our customers. It strengthens Angola’s role as a strategic hub, benefiting our economy and tourism sector. We are thrilled about this partnership, which aligns with our growth strategy and market expansion.”
Professor John Lamola, SAA Group CEO, added: “This partnership marks a significant milestone in African aviation, strengthening connectivity across the continent and creating new opportunities for travellers. By collaborating with TAAG, we are expanding our reach, enhancing passenger experience, and unlocking vital commercial pathways. This alliance reinforces our commitment to serving as a bridge between Africa and the world, driving seamless travel, trade, tourism, cultural exchange, and economic development.”
Beyond passenger convenience, the codeshare agreement is expected to support intra-African connectivity, trade, and tourism, while facilitating the movement of people and goods.
TAAG Angola Airlines, the country’s leading carrier, currently serves 12 domestic and 13 international destinations and operates a fleet capable of both passenger and cargo services.
