THE BLACKHAWK GROUP EXPANDS PERFORMANCE CENTER NETWORK WITH SILVER SKY ACQUISITION

The Blackhawk Group (TBG) has acquired Silver Sky Aviation of Wasilla, Alaska, expanding its Performance Center Network into one of the world’s fastest-growing turboprop markets. The transaction establishes Wasilla as TBG’s sixth Performance Center location and extends the group’s footprint into a region where aircraft performance and reliability are critical. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Alaska has experienced sustained growth in turboprop operations, driven by the combination of turbine aircraft range, speed and payload, together with the reliability required to operate in harsh, cold-weather conditions. Silver Sky has built a strong reputation over more than a decade as one of the few Alaskan facilities capable of supporting this demand, providing both maintenance and performance upgrade services.

Silver Sky brings extensive experience across King Air, Caravan, Kodiak and PC-12 platforms, including multiple Blackhawk and Finnoff performance conversions. This capability closely aligns with The Blackhawk Group’s core focus on turboprop and light turbine aircraft performance solutions.

Chad Cundiff, Chief Executive Officer of The Blackhawk Group, said the acquisition expands the group’s ability to support Alaskan aviation, where turboprops serve as a vital lifeline for operators across the region. He noted that combining Silver Sky’s technical expertise and customer support with TBG’s resources is expected to accelerate capability expansion and create new career opportunities for the existing team.

Aaron McCarty, owner and founder of Silver Sky Aviation, said joining The Blackhawk Group would allow the company to broaden its capabilities, strengthen partnerships with local operators and continue its focus on safety and reliability while expanding opportunities for staff.

Silver Sky will operate as a Blackhawk Performance Center, benefiting from TBG’s industry partnerships, infrastructure, training and operational resources to broaden service reach across Alaska. The facility is also an authorised service centre for Caravan and Kodiak aircraft, expanding OEM-backed service and support options within the Performance Center Network.

Daniel Han, Senior Principal at New State Capital Partners and Chairman of The Blackhawk Group, said the addition of Silver Sky advances TBG’s goal of becoming the premier service provider for the light turbine market by combining specialised regional expertise with group-wide technical strength.

The Blackhawk Group is a portfolio company of New State Capital Partners.
