Connecting Skies • Bridging Continents

QATAR AIRWAYS LEADS GLOBAL AVIATION WITH STARLINK-EQUIPPED BOEING 787 AND RECORD AIRBUS A350 ROLLOUT

Qatar Airways has reinforced its position at the forefront of inflight connectivity, becoming the world’s first airline to equip the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner with Starlink technology while completing a full Airbus A350 Starlink rollout in record time.

DOHA, Qatar – Qatar Airways, operator of the world’s first and largest Starlink-equipped widebody fleet, has achieved another global aviation milestone by enabling Starlink connectivity on the Boeing 787-8. The airline has already equipped three Dreamliners and, by December 2025, completed the installation of Starlink across its entire Airbus A350 fleet in just eight months.

This achievement follows Qatar Airways’ pioneering Boeing 777 Starlink programme and brings the airline’s total number of Starlink-connected widebody aircraft to nearly 120, representing more than 58 per cent of its widebody fleet across Airbus A350s, Boeing 777s and Boeing 787s.

The rapid pace of installation marks the fastest and most ambitious widebody Starlink rollout in global aviation history. Within just 14 months, Qatar Airways launched and completed Starlink installations on both the Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 fleets before expanding the technology to its Dreamliner aircraft. The airline is also the first in the world to secure Starlink certification for the Boeing 787-8.

Recognised as the World’s Best Airline by Skytrax in 2025 for the ninth time, Qatar Airways is setting new standards in long-haul and ultra-long-haul connectivity. Since launching the service in October 2024, more than 11 million passengers have already experienced free, gate-to-gate faster-than-home Wi-Fi onboard. In 2025 alone, Starlink connected over 21 million passengers across global airlines, with Qatar Airways accounting for nearly half of that total.

Passengers flying on Starlink-equipped aircraft benefit from ultra-high-speed connectivity of up to 500 Mbps, enabling uninterrupted streaming, video calls and real-time productivity that can exceed many home broadband networks. The service is available across a growing number of routes, including the majority of destinations in the Americas and Australia, as well as key routes across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

Beyond passenger experience, Starlink is transforming Qatar Airways’ operational capabilities. Real-time flight and roster updates are delivered instantly to crew devices, cabin crew coordination with ground teams is enhanced during medical or service-related situations, and engineers can monitor inflight entertainment systems during flight to improve turnaround efficiency on landing.

As the world’s largest operator of Starlink-equipped widebody aircraft and the first airline in the MENA region to offer this technology, Qatar Airways continues to strengthen its reputation for technological leadership and operational excellence.
