United Aircraft Corporation and Flamingo Aerospace sign a framework agreement for six IL-114-300 regional aircraft, supporting India’s regional connectivity and aviation capability development.
United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), part of Rostec, and Flamingo Aerospace Private Limited have signed a framework purchase agreement for six IL-114-300 regional aircraft. The agreement was formally signed during the Wings India 2026 International Aviation Exhibition held at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad.
The agreement marks the start of a phased aircraft programme intended to support India’s expanding regional connectivity requirements. The initial six aircraft form the first phase of the programme, with provisions for future expansion depending on market demand and operational readiness.
As part of the collaboration, UAC has provided Flamingo Aerospace with a cooperation framework that includes a detailed roadmap for developing aviation capabilities within India. This framework enables Flamingo Aerospace to undertake phased industrial activities including aircraft assembly, customisation, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), as well as preparation for future manufacturing and supporting infrastructure development. The agreement reflects both companies’ intention to build sustainable, long-term aviation capability in India, subject to definitive agreements and regulatory approvals.
Subhakar Pappula, Founder and CEO of Flamingo Aerospace, said the partnership represents a significant step for regional aviation development in India. He noted that the collaboration will introduce advanced aircraft and technology into the Indian market while supporting the development of sustainable aviation capability and skilled employment opportunities. He added that the partnership aligns with India’s ambition to strengthen regional connectivity and support a self-reliant aviation sector.
Flamingo Aerospace also confirmed its interest in additional UAC programmes, with the aim of promoting them within India and positioning itself as a key partner in expanding the presence of UAC aircraft in the country’s aviation market.
Vadim Badekha, CEO of United Aircraft Corporation, highlighted the growth of the Indian air travel market, noting annual passenger growth rates of up to 11%. He stated that India is now the world’s third-largest air travel market, creating favourable conditions for regional aircraft operations. He added that the framework agreement covers delivery of six aircraft beginning in 2028, with both companies planning to explore additional areas of cooperation in the future.
The IL-114-300 is a 68-seat regional turboprop aircraft designed for short- to medium-haul operations. The aircraft is capable of operating independently from small airfields, including those with limited infrastructure, as well as from short runways. The aircraft is manufactured using Russian components and is powered by TV7-117ST-01 engines developed by the United Engine Corporation, which is part of the Rostec State Corporation.
The IL-114-300 is currently being certified for operation across a wide range of climatic conditions, including Arctic regions, Siberian environments, mountainous terrain, and tropical and subtropical climates.
