BRIDGES AIR CARGO BEGINS OPERATIONS WITH FIRST EMBRAER E-FREIGHTER

Bridges Air Cargo has launched operations with its first Embraer E190F freighter, completing the aircraft’s initial commercial flight between Germany and Cyprus.

FIRST COMMERCIAL FLIGHT COMPLETED IN EUROPE

Bridges Air Cargo has commenced operations with the first Embraer E-Freighter entering service in Europe, with the aircraft completing its initial commercial flight from Cologne, Germany, to Larnaca, Cyprus carrying time-sensitive express cargo.

The aircraft will operate for Bridges Worldwide, providing network solutions for the express logistics industry across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Bridges Air Cargo has developed dedicated container and handling systems for the aircraft as part of preparations for the start of operations. The company has also obtained its own Air Operator Certificate (AOC) registered in Malta, enabling it to expand E190F operations.

PARTNERSHIP WITH EMBRAER AND REGIONAL ONE

The entry into service represents a milestone for Embraer’s E-Freighter programme, developed in partnership with aviation asset specialist Regional One.

Regional One has expanded its collaboration with Embraer through additional passenger-to-freighter (P2F) conversions, doubling its previous order of two aircraft.

The programme is designed to support growing cargo demand driven by e-commerce and modern logistics networks, which require faster deliveries and improved access to secondary and tertiary markets.

E190F DESIGNED FOR REGIONAL CARGO OPERATIONS

The E190F freighter has been developed to address a segment of the air cargo market requiring mid-size aircraft capable of serving regional networks.

According to Embraer, converted E-Jets offer more than 40 percent greater volume capacity, up to three times the range of large cargo turboprops, and up to 30 percent lower operating costs than larger narrowbody aircraft.

The aircraft has a maximum structural payload of 13,500 kg when combining main deck and lower hold cargo capacity.

SUPPORTING EXPRESS AND LOGISTICS NETWORKS

Bridges provides neutral network solutions to the international logistics, courier and express industry. Together with its partners, the company currently supports a network uplift of more than 25,000 tonnes per year.

The company operates a regional freighter network alongside scheduled commercial airline capacity, supporting more than 1,000 flights per week for global logistics operators.
