Aircraft selected to support logistics and passenger transport between Florida and a private island in the Bahamas.
Tecnam has announced the delivery of the first United States-based P2012 Traveller equipped with Continental engines to a private owner. The aircraft has been acquired by Don Davis to support logistical and transport operations serving Spanish Cay, a privately owned island destination in the Bahamas.
The P2012 Traveller will operate as the primary air link between Florida and the island, supporting a range of operational and transport requirements.
AIRCRAFT SUPPORTS PRIVATE ISLAND OPERATIONS
Spanish Cay is a remote island featuring a marina, resort facilities and residential properties. Accessible only by sea or through its private airfield (MYAX), the island relies on external supply chains for day-to-day operations.
The P2012 Traveller will provide a regular transport connection between the United States mainland and the island, delivering food supplies, equipment and other operational goods required for the marina, restaurants, bar and hospitality facilities.
In addition to cargo transport, the aircraft will be used for passenger transfers, moving guests and personnel between Florida and Spanish Cay, while also supporting urgent transportation requirements when needed.
VERSATILE PLATFORM FOR PRIVATE MOBILITY
Don Davis, owner of Spanish Cay, said the P2012 Traveller Continental was selected for its flexibility and ability to support both passenger and supply transport operations.
He noted that the aircraft provides a practical solution for transporting guests, staff and essential supplies required to support the island’s daily operations.
DESIGNED FOR SHORT-HAUL AND OVER-WATER OPERATIONS
The selection highlights the aircraft’s suitability for short-haul, high-frequency missions where payload capacity, reliability and operational flexibility are essential.
The twin-engine configuration, combined with modern avionics, supports safe and efficient operations, including flights conducted over water.
Francesco Sferra, Special Mission Platforms Sales and Business Development Manager for the Tecnam P2012 programme, said the delivery demonstrates the aircraft’s potential for private owners requiring a reliable and versatile platform for logistics and passenger transport.
Tecnam is also exploring additional interior configuration options to expand the aircraft’s appeal to private owners seeking higher levels of cabin customisation.
P2012 TRAVELLER PLATFORM
The Tecnam P2012 Traveller is an 11-seat twin-engine utility aircraft designed to deliver operational efficiency, ease of maintenance and passenger comfort. The aircraft can be powered by Continental or Lycoming engines and is available with either a standard or short take-off and landing (STOL) wing configuration.
The aircraft is intended to provide a modern replacement for older twin-engine utility aircraft operating in regions such as the United States and the Caribbean.
