Anodyne Electronics Manufacturing Corp. (AEM) has expanded its existing Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) to include Bell 206 and Bell 407 helicopters for its MTP136D and MTP138 radio systems.
EXPANDED STC COVERAGE
The updated STC, approved by Transport Canada, enables installation of the MTP136D P25 digital radio and MTP138 VHF FM radio across a broader range of helicopter platforms.
The certification now includes multiple Bell 206 variants and the Bell 407, in addition to previously approved Airbus and Bell helicopter models.
APPLICATION IN AERIAL FIREFIGHTING OPERATIONS
The MTP136D radio is approved for aerial firefighting operations and supports both digital and analogue communications across the 136–174 MHz frequency band.
The MTP138 provides VHF FM analogue communication capability within a similar frequency range.
The systems are designed as direct replacements for legacy radios and can be integrated into existing aircraft configurations.
FLEET UPGRADE IMPLEMENTATION
Operators are expected to begin upgrading Bell 206 and 407 aircraft under the expanded certification.
Alpine Helicopters supported the certification process and is progressing with fleet upgrades following earlier installations on Bell 212 and 412 aircraft.
OPERATIONAL CONTEXT
The expanded STC supports increased standardisation of communication systems across aerial firefighting fleets, where interoperability and reliability are operational requirements.
