EMBRAER AND FRAUNHOFER IPK SIGN INDUSTRY 4.0 COLLABORATION AGREEMENT

Embraer and Fraunhofer IPK sign MoU to explore Industry 4.0 technologies and data-driven efficiency in aerospace manufacturing.

Partnership to explore data-driven manufacturing and operational efficiency in aerospace

SÃO JOSÉ DOS CAMPOS, BRAZIL — Embraer has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology IPK to explore collaboration in Industry 4.0 technologies and digital transformation initiatives.

FOCUS ON DATA-DRIVEN OPERATIONS

The agreement, signed during Hannover Messe 2026, establishes a framework for joint studies, technical discussions, and knowledge exchange centred on data-driven approaches to improving operational efficiency.

Areas of focus include production digitalisation, advanced manufacturing systems, and the integration of digital technologies into aerospace operations.

INDUSTRY 4.0 IN AEROSPACE PRODUCTION

The collaboration reflects ongoing efforts within the aerospace sector to adopt Industry 4.0 principles, where data analytics, automation, and interconnected systems are used to optimise production processes and lifecycle management.

Fraunhofer IPK’s involvement brings expertise in production systems and digital transformation, while Embraer aims to apply these capabilities to enhance efficiency and support long-term operational performance.

STRATEGIC POSITIONING THROUGH TECHNOLOGY PARTNERSHIPS

The MoU forms part of Embraer’s broader strategy to strengthen innovation pathways through external collaboration, particularly in areas that support sustainable growth and technological advancement.

For Fraunhofer IPK, the agreement aligns with its approach of working with global high-technology partners in strategic sectors, including aerospace, to develop applied solutions and shared technical insights.

ROLE OF INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY EVENTS

Embraer’s participation at Hannover Messe reflects the increasing overlap between aerospace manufacturing and broader industrial technology ecosystems.

The event provides a platform for identifying emerging technologies, engaging with research institutions, and establishing partnerships that support the evolution of production systems across the aerospace sector.
