Embraer and Portuguese aerospace company OGMA have completed the first scheduled 24-month maintenance programme on a Hungarian Air Force C-390 Millennium, reinforcing the aircraft’s growing European support network.
FIRST MAINTENANCE MILESTONE COMPLETED
Embraer and OGMA have successfully completed the first scheduled 24-month maintenance inspection on a C-390 Millennium aircraft operated by the Hungarian Air Force. The work was carried out at OGMA’s facilities in Alverca, Portugal, marking an important milestone for the aircraft programme and its European support infrastructure.
The maintenance event follows the recent signing of a support agreement between Embraer and the Hungarian Air Force covering maintenance, logistics and technical support for the country’s C-390 fleet.
SUPPORTING OPERATIONAL READINESS
Brigadier General Tamás Bali, Commander of the Hungarian Air Force, said the maintenance programme was completed successfully through close cooperation between the air force, Embraer and OGMA. He noted that the project demonstrated a high level of technical expertise and coordination while supporting the continued operational readiness of the fleet.
Douglas Lobo, Vice President Customer Support and Aftermarket Sales at Embraer Services & Support, described the maintenance event as an important step in strengthening the company’s support capabilities across Europe. He said the programme demonstrated the effectiveness of Embraer’s collaboration with OGMA in delivering maintenance services for C-390 operators.
EXPANDING EUROPEAN SUPPORT NETWORK
The services agreement between Embraer and the Hungarian Air Force leverages Embraer’s growing European support network to provide maintenance, logistics and technical assistance for the aircraft. Hungary became the second NATO member state to operate the C-390 Millennium and completed delivery of its two-aircraft fleet in November 2025.
According to Embraer, the aircraft have demonstrated strong operational performance since entering service with the Hungarian Air Force in late 2024.
MULTI-MISSION AIRLIFT PLATFORM
The C-390 Millennium is a multi-mission military transport aircraft designed for operations in demanding environments. The platform is capable of undertaking cargo and troop transport, medical evacuation, humanitarian assistance, search and rescue, precision cargo airdrop, paratrooper deployment and air-to-air refuelling missions.
Hungary’s aircraft are the first in the C-390 fleet to be equipped with a modular roll-on/roll-off Intensive Care Unit (ICU), providing enhanced capability for advanced aeromedical and humanitarian operations.
The successful completion of the first scheduled maintenance event represents a further step in establishing long-term sustainment support for European C-390 operators as the fleet continues to expand across the region.
