The Board of Airline Representatives in Germany (BARIG) has reinforced its commitment to the air cargo sector by expanding its industry engagement and strengthening collaboration with logistics stakeholders, as airlines continue to navigate geopolitical uncertainty, supply chain disruption and increasing regulatory demands.
BARIG strengthens industry collaboration
The Board of Airline Representatives in Germany (BARIG) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the air cargo industry through closer collaboration with logistics stakeholders and continued advocacy for improved operating conditions across the sector.
As part of this effort, BARIG Chairman and Executive Director Michael Hoppe has been re-elected to the Executive Board of the Air Cargo Community Frankfurt (ACCF), where he represents the interests of more than 100 passenger airlines and over 30 international cargo carriers operating in Germany.
Hoppe has been involved with ACCF since its establishment in 2014 and said closer cooperation between industry organisations is becoming increasingly important as global supply chains face mounting pressure.
Focus on operational efficiency
Alongside its participation in ACCF, BARIG continues to develop the work of its Air Cargo Committee, co-chaired by Jorge Carretero of LATAM Cargo and Thilo Schäfer of Condor Cargo.
The committee brings together cargo specialists from member airlines to address operational priorities including digitalisation, automation and process optimisation, while promoting closer cooperation across the wider logistics chain.
Responding to industry challenges
BARIG noted that air freight continues to play a vital role in supporting both the German and global economies but faces growing challenges from geopolitical tensions, regulatory complexity and persistent supply chain disruption.
The association says stronger collaboration between airlines, airports, logistics providers, regulators and other stakeholders will be essential to improving supply chain resilience and ensuring efficient cargo operations. BARIG also intends to continue representing airline interests with policymakers at both national and international level as the industry adapts to an increasingly complex operating environment.
