Bombardier has delivered the 200th Challenger 3500 to Piero Ferrari, Vice Chairman of Ferrari, who will use the aircraft for travel to Formula One races and business engagements. The milestone comes less than four years after the type entered service, during which period Bombardier states it has out delivered every other business jet model in the medium and heavy categories.
A DELIVERY MILESTONE WITH A RECOGNISABLE NAME ATTACHED
Bombardier has announced the delivery of the 200th Challenger 3500 to Piero Ferrari, Vice Chairman of Ferrari. The aircraft will support Mr Ferrari’s travel to Formula One races and other business engagements. Reaching 200 deliveries less than four years after entry into service is presented by the manufacturer as evidence of the aircraft’s market momentum in the super-midsize segment, one of the most contested categories in business aviation.
David Murray, Executive Vice President for Manufacturing, IT and the Bombardier Operational Excellence System, said delivering the 200th Challenger 3500 was a defining milestone for the company and a testament to the aircraft’s success in the super-midsize segment. He said Bombardier was especially proud to mark the milestone with Mr Ferrari and thanked him for the confidence placed in the company, adding that the achievement reflected the dedication of Bombardier’s employees and the strength of an aircraft delivering performance, efficiency and cabin experience.
DELIVERY PERFORMANCE SINCE 2023
Bombardier states that since its first full year of deliveries in 2023, the Challenger 3500 has outdelivered every other business jet model in the medium and heavy categories. The manufacturer identifies the aircraft as offering the lowest direct operating costs in its class alongside its performance and cabin specification. The type has also gained traction among fleet operators, with recent firm commitments from BOND, NetJets and VistaJet — a category of customer whose acquisition decisions are driven principally by operating economics and residual value rather than by individual preference, and whose adoption therefore carries particular weight as a market signal.
CABIN SPECIFICATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL DECLARATION
The Challenger 3500 cabin includes what Bombardier describes as the industry’s first voice-controlled cabin, alongside the Nuage seat originally introduced on the Global 7500. The aircraft carries an Environmental Product Declaration, as does Bombardier’s entire portfolio of in-production aircraft; the Challenger 3500’s declaration is a Type II declaration in accordance with ISO 14021 and follows ISO 14044:2006 for science-based Life Cycle Assessment. Bombardier states, on the basis of its own analysis of publicly available data, that it is the only business jet manufacturer to have published Environmental Product Declarations for its aircraft. Bombardier customers operate a fleet of more than 5,200 aircraft supported by ten service facilities across six countries, with manufacturing in Canada, the United States and Mexico.
