EGYPT TO HOST 2027 ACI WORLD/AFRICA AIRPORT GATHERING IN SHARM EL SHEIKH

The Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation will host next year’s ACI Africa/World Annual General Assembly, Conference and Exhibition, as ACI projects global passenger traffic will double to 19.8 billion by 2047.

Airports Council International (ACI) World and ACI Latin America and the Caribbean concluded their 2026 Annual General Assembly, Conference and Exhibition (WAGA) in Lima, Peru, announcing that the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation (EHCAAN) will host the 2027 edition in Sharm El Sheikh, co-organised by ACI Africa. WAGA 2026 convened more than 600 senior executives across 20 sessions and more than 50 expert speakers. ACI says global passenger traffic continued to grow in the first half of 2026 despite geopolitical and economic headwinds, and is projected to double to 19.8 billion passengers by 2047.

“What stood out in Lima was how aligned our industry is. Airport leaders from every region left this week with a shared understanding of what the next decade demands: more capacity, the right conditions to facilitate investment and a passenger experience centred on people,” said ACI World Director General Justin Erbacci. “We look forward to continuing these conversations in Egypt next year, another major gateway that showcases the power of connectivity.” “WAGA 2027 will once again bring the global airport community to Africa, reflecting the continent’s growing importance in shaping the future of aviation,” said ACI Africa Secretary General Ali Tounsi. “Egypt and Africa are ready to welcome the world.” EHCAAN Chairman Eng. Aiman Arab said: “We are honoured to welcome the global airport community to Egypt for WAGA 2027 … we look forward to building on that momentum and creating new opportunities for dialogue, collaboration and knowledge exchange.”

WAGA 2027 is scheduled for 16 to 22 October in Sharm El Sheikh, with registration and programme details to be announced in 2027. ACI, the trade association of the world’s airports, says it serves 811 members operating more than 2,200 airports in over 160 countries as of January 2026; EHCAAN oversees a network of 23 airports across Egypt.
