PEGASUS AIRLINES COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF CZECH AIRLINES AND SMARTWINGS GROUP

The deal brings together a combined fleet of more than 175 aircraft and 140 further firm orders, creating one of the larger low-cost and leisure groupings spanning Western and Central Europe.

Pegasus Airlines has completed its acquisition of Czech Airlines and Smartwings Group, following all required regulatory approvals and the fulfilment of customary closing conditions. The combined fleet includes more than 175 aircraft, with firm orders covering a further 140 aircraft already secured by both airlines. Pegasus, established in 1990 and operating a low-cost model since 2005, flies to 161 destinations in 57 countries and carried a record 43.3 million guests in 2025. Smartwings, together with the Czech Airlines brand, forms one of the longest-standing airline groups in Central and Eastern Europe, operating to 80 destinations in 20 countries; Smartwings will continue operating under its existing brand and day-to-day operations.

“Our story began with a dream of a world where everyone can fly, and today, Pegasus Airlines and Smartwings come together to take that ambition forward. Together we can grow further and offer our guests more choice than any of us could alone,” said Güliz Öztürk, CEO of Pegasus Airlines. “Smartwings has been built over many years by dedicated people and by the loyalty of passengers and partners, to whom I am deeply grateful. We are confident that Pegasus Airlines is the right partner to build on these strengths, support future growth and create lasting value for everyone connected with both airlines,” said Jiří Šimáně, co-founder of Smartwings.
