LUFTHANSA GROUP TO FLY UP TO 50 TIMES WEEKLY TO JAPAN FROM SUMMER 2027

The group will resume Frankfurt-Nagoya service and add a daily Frankfurt-Tokyo Narita flight, cementing its position as Japan’s leading European airline group.

The Lufthansa Group is significantly expanding its services to Japan from the 2027 summer schedule, citing a strong increase in demand. Lufthansa will resume its direct Frankfurt-Nagoya route on a seasonal basis, flying Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 29 March 2027; outbound flight LH736 will depart Frankfurt at 2:10pm and arrive in Nagoya the following day at 9:35am local time, with the return service, LH737, departing Nagoya at 11:30am and arriving in the Rhine-Main region at 6:30pm local time. From 28 March 2027, Lufthansa will also add a daily flight, LH710, from Frankfurt to Tokyo-Narita, departing Frankfurt at 1:45pm and landing in Narita the following day at 9:30am local time, with the return flight, LH711, departing Narita at 11:20am and arriving in Frankfurt at 6:40pm; the airline continues to fly daily from both Munich and Frankfurt to Tokyo-Haneda.

Both new routes will be operated with Lufthansa’s Boeing 787-9 in the Allegris configuration, the airline’s newest premium cabin product, offering 28 Business Class seats, 28 Premium Economy seats and 231 Economy Class seats. SWISS is separately expanding its own Japan service, offering up to seven weekly flights between Zurich and Tokyo-Narita in summer 2027. Across the group’s hub airlines, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, SWISS and ITA Airways, the Lufthansa Group will offer up to 50 weekly flights to four Japanese destinations, Tokyo-Haneda, Tokyo-Narita, Osaka and Nagoya, in summer 2027, with the group describing itself as the leading European airline group in the Japanese market by weekly flight numbers; further booking options are available through Lufthansa’s joint venture partner ANA. Flights are open for booking now.

“Japan is a key market for the Lufthansa Group, and we are pleased to further strengthen our presence with additional capacity and the resumption of flights to Nagoya. Together with our expanded Tokyo services, these investments provide our customers with more travel options and support the continued diversification of our intercontinental network. As the leading European airline group in Japan, we remain committed to connecting people, cultures and economies between Europe and Japan,” said Dieter Vranckx, member of the Executive Board and Chief Commercial Officer of Lufthansa Group.
