ARCHER ACQUIRES LILIUM PATENT PORTFOLIO, STRENGTHENING LEADERSHIP IN EVTOL INNOVATION

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — October, 2025: Archer Aviation Inc. (NYSE: ACHR), a leading developer of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, has announced that it has won the competitive bid process to acquire Lilium GmbH’s patent portfolio for €18 million. The acquisition includes approximately 300 advanced air mobility patent assets, reinforcing Archer’s position at the forefront of next-generation electric aviation.

The portfolio encompasses key innovations in high-voltage systems, battery management, advanced aircraft design, flight controls, electric engines, propeller systems, and ducted fan technologies—the latter widely regarded as among the most advanced in the eVTOL sector. With the addition of Lilium’s patents, Archer’s global portfolio now exceeds 1,000 patent assets, bolstering its intellectual property base across current and future eVTOL platforms.

Lilium’s pioneering work advanced the frontier of eVTOL design and technology, and we’re excited to bring their cutting-edge technologies into the fold at Archer as we advance our product roadmap,” said Adam Goldstein, Founder and CEO of Archer.

Founded in 2015, Lilium invested more than US$1.5 billion in developing advanced technologies related to its visionary eVTOL platform, which was widely regarded as being ahead of its time. Through this acquisition, Archer gains access to enabling technologies that complement and enhance its current aircraft development programmes.

The acquisition comes amid ongoing industry consolidation in the advanced air mobility (AAM) sector, following several major transactions including the recent acquisition of Volocopter by a Chinese buyer. Archer’s move underscores its commitment to ensuring that the United States remains a leader in critical eVTOL innovation and manufacturing.

The company also noted that Lilium’s ducted fan technology could play a significant role in shaping the next phase of sustainable air transport. Following the U.S. Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration’s MOSAIC (Modernization of the Special Airworthiness Certification) final rule announced in July 2025, Archer believes these technologies could unlock new opportunities in both the light-sport and regional air mobility markets.

With this acquisition, Archer continues to expand its technological foundation, driving innovation in electric propulsion, advanced aerodynamics, and sustainable urban and regional air mobility.
