AVIATION AFRICA 2024 TEAMS UP WITH AFBAA

The 8th Aviation Africa Summit & Exhibition, set to take place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Gauteng, South Africa, on September 16-17, 2024, is set to make waves in the aviation industry by teaming up with the African Business Aircraft Association (AfBAA). This partnership marks a significant step forward in the promotion and development of business aviation across the African continent.

The co-location of AfBAA’s Symposium and Annual General Meeting with the Aviation Africa event underscores the growing importance of business aviation in Africa. “Co-locating our annual symposium at Aviation AFRICA is a major statement of intent about the importance of business aviation to this continent and our commitment to developing our industry on the most significant platforms,” said Alcinda Pereira, Chair of AfBAA. Pereira, who is also the co-founder and Vice-Chair of Angolan private aviation group Bestfly, will deliver a keynote presentation at the Summit.

The partnership is expected to create a broader networking platform for the business aviation community in Africa, amplifying AfBAA’s influence within and beyond the industry. Gavin Kiggen, Vice-Chair of AfBAA and Vice President of ExecuJet Africa, will also be featured on the Summit programme, alongside other senior representatives from AfBAA members.

Mark Brown, CEO of Times Aerospace Events, the organizers of Aviation Africa, highlighted the growing interest and participation in the event, noting the synergy with AfBAA as a strategic move to further boost business aviation involvement. Brown also announced discounted delegate and exhibitor packages for AfBAA members, attracting major industry players such as Hadid, Jetex, Skyplan, Jet Aviation, Bell Textron, Pratt & Whitney, Collins Aerospace, AEG Fuels, and Satcom Direct.

The Aviation Africa Summit & Exhibition 2024, officially hosted by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA), is the continent’s premier gathering for the commercial air transport sector. This year’s event, themed ‘Bridging Skies and Leveraging Growth,’ will feature an impressive lineup of speakers from Africa and beyond, bringing together leaders from airlines, regulatory bodies, airports, OEMs, and the entire aviation supply chain.

This will be the first time the event is held in South Africa, a significant moment as the country continues its recovery from recent challenges. The collaboration with AfBAA signals a promising future for business aviation in Africa, setting the stage for growth and innovation in the years to come.
