AVOLON EXPANDS AIRBUS PORTFOLIO WITH MAJOR 90-AIRCRAFT ORDER

DUBLIN – 24 July 2025 – Global aviation finance leader Avolon has placed a firm order with Airbus for 90 new aircraft, comprising 75 A321neos and 15 A330neos, significantly boosting its future fleet capabilities and reinforcing its long-term commitment to next-generation, fuel-efficient aircraft.

The newly announced deal brings Avolon’s total Airbus commitments to 413 aircraft, made up entirely of new technology platforms from the A320neo and A330neo families. The order includes purchase rights for an additional 25 A321neos and options for 15 more A330neos, underscoring Avolon’s strategic intent to support global airline growth and fleet renewal well into the next decade.

Deliveries from this order will continue through to 2033. Avolon currently has 145 A320neo family aircraft in its delivered fleet and, including this order, holds commitments for 358 more aircraft from the same family. The A321neo, a key component of the single-aisle segment, can carry up to 244 passengers and fly up to 7,400km while achieving 20% lower fuel burn and CO₂ emissions than its predecessors, with a 50% reduction in noise footprint.

Avolon was an early adopter of the A330neo programme, having joined as a launch customer in 2014. With 33 A330neos already delivered, this latest order brings its A330neo backlog to 55. The widebody aircraft offers a range exceeding 13,300km and delivers 25% greater fuel efficiency over previous generation aircraft—making it well suited for long-haul operations in a carbon-conscious aviation market.

Andy Cronin, CEO of Avolon, remarked: “This order demonstrates our strong confidence in the long-term demand for new aircraft. Both the A321neo and A330neo are in high demand, and we expect this to continue given the long-term growth trajectory for the aviation sector. We are delighted to be expanding and extending our long-term partnership with Airbus with this order.”

Airbus EVP Sales, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, added: “Lessors are excellent barometers of the aircraft market. This endorsement illustrates the strong attractiveness to a wide variety of customers of these two aircraft, the most efficient in their category. We value this partnership which has helped open new markets and broaden the customer base for both aircraft types.”

The order is subject to shareholder approval by Bohai Leasing Co., Ltd., which owns 70% of Avolon. This approval is expected by the end of August 2025.

With a customer base of 142 airlines across 60 countries and a fleet of 1,166 aircraft (pro forma for this new order), Avolon continues to play a pivotal role in financing the future of sustainable global air transport.
