In a landmark moment for both Scoot and Southeast Asian aviation, Azorra has proudly facilitated the delivery of the first of nine new Embraer E190-E2 aircraft to Scoot, the renowned low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA). This significant event was commemorated with a special handover ceremony attended by senior executives from Azorra, Scoot, and Embraer at Embraer’s esteemed facility in Brazil.
Named ‘Explorer 3.0’ in honour of its status as the third and newest fleet addition to the Scoot family, the delivery of the E190-E2 signifies a pivotal moment, marking the debut of a Brazilian-manufactured aircraft in the fleet of a Singapore carrier for the very first time.
Leslie Thng, the Chief Executive Officer of Scoot, expressed his gratitude and enthusiasm, stating, “We are honoured to be the first Singapore carrier to take delivery of this modern and fuel-efficient aircraft. The E190-E2 jets are crucial to our overall network growth strategy, reflecting our commitment to connecting our customers to more destinations at the same great value.”
John Evans, CEO and founder of Azorra, echoed this sentiment, emphasising the significance of this partnership in expanding Scoot’s network efficiently. He remarked, “It’s truly exciting to be part of this new chapter for Scoot with the addition of E2s, facilitating optimised expansion of its existing network and the development of new markets with such an efficient and versatile aircraft.”
Azorra’s long-standing relationship with Embraer further underscores the success of this venture, as Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, highlighted. “Embraer’s family of advanced-generation E-Jets are ideally suited for Scoot’s ambitions,” he said. “We look forward to seeing how Scoot’s passengers enjoy the comfort and quietness of the most fuel-efficient aircraft in the narrow-body space.”
The commencement of Scoot E2 services in May 2024 with Explorer 3.0’s inaugural flight to Krabi, Thailand, marks the beginning of an exciting new era for the airline and its passengers.
