B&H WORLDWIDE COMPLETES SPECIALISED LOGISTICS PROJECT FOR A330 COCKPIT DELIVERY

A330 cockpit transported from United Kingdom to New Zealand for flight training device conversion

B&H Worldwide has completed a specialised international logistics project involving the transportation of a decommissioned Airbus A330 cockpit from the United Kingdom to New Zealand, supporting the development of a new flight training device.

Working in collaboration with Christchurch-based Pacific Simulators (PacSim), a global provider of fully tactile, fixed-based flight training devices (FTDs), the project required a fully customised logistics solution tailored to the handling and transport of a high-value aerospace asset.

B&H Worldwide designed and executed a comprehensive end-to-end logistics strategy to meet PacSim’s specific operational requirements. The cockpit, which will be repurposed into an advanced A330 flight training device, was transported via sea freight to provide a secure and reliable transit solution.

According to Lee Hedges, Branch Manager at B&H Worldwide New Zealand, the project demonstrated the company’s capability beyond its established time-critical Aircraft on Ground (AOG) services.

The operation commenced in West Sussex, where B&H’s United Kingdom transport and warehouse team collected the cockpit and prepared it for shipment. The unit was packed into a 20-foot sea freight container at the company’s secure Heathrow facility before being shipped from Southampton. The shipment was continuously tracked during the ocean transit.

On arrival in Christchurch, B&H Worldwide’s New Zealand team managed customs clearance, delivery and devanning at an ATF facility to ensure compliance with New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) biosecurity requirements.

For Pacific Simulators, the cockpit delivery supports the company’s ongoing development of fully tactile training devices for global training centres. PacSim manufactures FTDs compliant with EASA, FAA and ICAO standards and has extensive experience in integrating decommissioned aircraft components into simulator platforms.

Nathan Moulds, Chief Commercial Officer at Pacific Simulators, said the project was managed with a high level of professionalism and technical understanding, allowing the company to proceed with the cockpit’s conversion into a training device for commercial aviation training applications.

B&H Worldwide continues to provide logistics support to aviation manufacturers, maintenance organisations and operators globally, offering scalable solutions for complex aerospace transport requirements.
