Boeing has delivered the Nusantara Lima (SNL) satellite to PSN Group, marking a major step in expanding high-capacity connectivity across Indonesia’s more than 17,500 islands and neighbouring Southeast Asian countries. The launch is scheduled for next month from Florida’s Space Coast, with commercial service expected to begin in early 2026.
Built on Boeing’s proven 702MP platform, the SNL communications payload offers more than 160 Gbps of capacity, enabling broadband internet and essential communications for urban centres, remote villages, and disaster response scenarios. The system’s advanced payload processing allows PSN to dynamically direct capacity where it is needed most.
“Indonesia was one of the first nations to adopt satellite communications to connect its citizens, and Nusantara Lima continues that legacy,” said Adi Rahman Adiwoso, CEO of PSN Group. “This satellite will empower communities, schools, and businesses that have never had reliable access before. Our partnership with Boeing and global technology partners is about making sure no one is left behind as Indonesia grows.”
The satellite’s solar wings, built by Boeing subsidiary Spectrolab, will deliver up to 15 kW of power to support full-capacity operations for its planned 15-year mission. Spectrolab has invested in production upgrades to meet growing demand for space-grade solar cells.
Ryan Reid, president of Boeing Satellite Systems International, highlighted the company’s long-standing ties with Indonesia, dating back to the Palapa A1 satellite in 1976. “With Nusantara Lima, we’re proud to continue that legacy, delivering a high-throughput solution tailored to Indonesia’s unique geography and connectivity needs,” he said.
PSN, Indonesia’s first private satellite-based telecommunications company, provides affordable, high-speed broadband via satellite to regions beyond the reach of terrestrial networks. The company is set to become Southeast Asia’s largest satellite capacity operator, with an estimated 330 Gbps and over 35,000 points of presence across Indonesia.
Boeing’s partnership with Indonesia spans more than 75 years, covering commercial aviation, defence, supply chain, sustainability, air traffic management, safety, and talent development—built on shared trust and commitment to national growth.
