Chinese startup AutoFlight has secured a production certificate for its V2000CG CarryAll, an autonomous electric vertical-takeoff-and-landing (eVTOL) cargo aircraft. The certification, granted by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), marks a significant milestone for electric aviation, particularly for larger eVTOL platforms
The CarryAll, boasting a gross weight of 2,000 kilograms (4,400 pounds), had previously earned its type certificate in March 2024. With this production certificate, the aircraft becomes the first eVTOL over 1,000 kilograms to meet CAAC’s stringent airworthiness requirements—a critical achievement in the sector.

Raising the Bar for Airworthiness Standards
The certification process reflects the rigorous standards set for aircraft exceeding the 1,000-kilogram threshold. The V2000CG was assessed under a hybrid framework combining CCAR-92 rules for uncrewed aircraft with CCAR-21-R4 rules applicable to general aviation. This dual compliance underscores the aircraft’s robust design and operational readiness.

The CAAC’s approach to certification is setting global benchmarks. Notably, AutoFlight’s success follows the certification of EHang’s EH216-S, a lighter, 650-kilogram, two-passenger eVTOL that previously made history as the first of its kind worldwide to secure a type certificate.

Building Toward a Passenger Future
While the CarryAll is focused on cargo operations, it serves as a stepping stone for AutoFlight’s ambitious passenger eVTOL project, the Prosperity. Currently undergoing its own certification process under China’s equivalent of the FAA’s Part 21.17(b) for powered-lift aircraft, the Prosperity represents the company’s vision for sustainable urban air mobility.

Scaling Up for Commercial Deployment
With the production certificate in hand, AutoFlight is ready to scale production and deliver on its growing list of orders. The company has already secured commitments from multiple logistics providers and low-altitude operators, positioning the V2000CG as a key player in the burgeoning cargo eVTOL market.
Â
In addition to ramping up production, AutoFlight plans to establish robust delivery and after-sales support systems, ensuring seamless integration of the V2000CG into commercial operations.

This landmark achievement not only highlights China’s leadership in eVTOL innovation but also sets the stage for broader adoption of electric-powered aviation in logistics and urban air mobility.
