D328ECO TEST AIRCRAFT ROLLS OUT: DEUTSCHE AIRCRAFT TAKES BOLD STEP IN SUSTAINABLE REGIONAL AVIATION

Wessling, Germany – 28 May 2025 – Deutsche Aircraft has officially unveiled the first D328eco® test aircraft (TAC 1) at its headquarters on the Airtech Campus in Oberpfaffenhofen, marking a defining milestone in the development of next-generation, sustainable regional aviation.

Following the announcement of the initial fuselage cut at the Farnborough International Airshow in July 2024, the programme has advanced steadily toward its ambitious goals. The rollout of TAC 1 is a tangible demonstration of Deutsche Aircraft’s transition from design to the physical testing phase, as it progresses toward industrialisation and eventual certification.

Engineering a Legacy into the Future

An evolution of the trusted Dornier 328 platform, the D328eco is not a clean-sheet design but a carefully engineered advancement, offering improved fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and a significantly enhanced passenger experience—all while retaining the proven versatility and operational reliability regional operators have relied on for more than 30 years.

“This milestone represents our transition from conceptual design to practical testing,” stated Nico Neumann, Co-CEO of Deutsche Aircraft. “We are proud to introduce an aircraft with the proven DNA of the Dornier 328, enhanced for better efficiency, reduced emissions and a superior customer experience.”

COO Olaf Lawrenz added:

“The rollout reflects our commitment to delivering a next-generation regional aircraft that combines proven reliability with cutting-edge advancements. We’ve built upon the Dornier 328’s robust foundation with modern technologies that align with today’s demands for efficiency and sustainability.”

A Vision for the Industry

Marie-Christine von Hahn, CEO of the German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI), underscored the broader implications:

“Innovations in the air improve our lives on the ground. Deutsche Aircraft is sending a strong signal on behalf of the entire industry: German aviation is a global leader.”

Raising the Bar for Regional Aircraft

The D328eco sets out to redefine regional air travel, offering:

  • Unmatched fuel efficiency through modernised aerodynamics and next-gen propulsion systems.
  • Enhanced operational performance, capable of navigating short runways, remote regions and adverse weather conditions.
  • Future-ready design, integrating cutting-edge avionics and sustainable manufacturing technologies.

Towards Certification and Entry into Service

With TAC 1 now rolled out, Deutsche Aircraft will commence its comprehensive flight test campaign, aiming for type certification and entry into service by Q4 2027. The development is being driven in close collaboration with regulators, strategic partners, and an international supply chain—ensuring compliance with the highest standards of performance, safety, and environmental responsibility.

Industry-Wide Support for a Shared Vision

The rollout ceremony attracted over 500 attendees, including high-level government officials, suppliers, industry partners, and media representatives. The turnout is a clear indication of the support for Deutsche Aircraft’s role in advancing climate-conscious, fuel-efficient air travel for regional markets.

As Deutsche Aircraft forges ahead, the D328eco stands as a strong symbol of innovation—proving that the future of regional aviation is not only viable, but essential to sustainable global connectivity.
