Delta Air Lines appoints Matt Long as Managing Director, Alliances – Europe & Africa, supporting trans-Atlantic growth and coordination across 35 markets.
Appointment supports trans-Atlantic investment
Delta Air Lines has appointed Matt Long as Managing Director, Alliances – Europe & Africa, as the airline continues to invest in the trans-Atlantic market ahead of what it expects to be its busiest-ever summer schedule to the region.
In the role, Long will support the delivery of Delta’s customer experience across the Atlantic as the airline strengthens its commercial and operational position in Europe and Africa.
Strategic focus on Europe and Africa
Europe and Africa represent strategically important regions for Delta, accounting for a significant share of its long-haul demand and premium revenue.
Long will lead coordination of commercial, operational and customer experience initiatives across 35 European and African markets. He will work closely with Delta’s in-region teams and joint venture partners at Air France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic to support the airline’s long-term commercial objectives.
His responsibilities will also include contributing to major infrastructure and modernisation projects at key hubs in Amsterdam, Paris-Charles de Gaulle and London Heathrow, while driving customer experience initiatives across the two regions.
Delta’s trans-Atlantic network now comprises more than 100 peak daily flights across Europe and Africa. Recent additions include Seattle–Barcelona and Seattle–Rome, New York-JFK–Olbia, Malta and Porto, and Atlanta–Marrakech, alongside expanded services to Accra and Lagos.
Experience in international customer strategy
Long joined Delta in 2013 and has held leadership roles spanning International, Alliances, Customer Experience Strategy and Commercial functions.
Most recently, he led Delta’s International Customer Experience Integration & Strategy team, focusing on collaboration with joint venture partners and improvements in customer satisfaction across the airline’s international network.
He will be based at Delta’s offices in Amsterdam.
Perry Cantarutti, Senior Vice President – Alliances International, said Long’s experience in customer experience development and joint venture alignment positions him to lead the airline’s efforts in Europe and Africa as part of Delta’s international growth strategy.
