EHang Holdings’ Global Fast Track Program has expanded to Vietnam, the second country to join the programme after Sri Lanka, with Hanoi as its first stop. The company’s local partner, HungViet Technology and Investment Trading JSC, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology to carry out low-altitude economy sandbox testing of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, centred on EHang’s EH216-S pilotless aircraft. Under the agreement, Hanoi’s authority will guide the sandbox application and approval process, while HungViet will commit resources from October 2026 and carry out controlled test flights once authorised; EHang will supply the aircraft, its technology systems and personnel training support. Testing is planned at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park.

The signing and execution of this project will strongly advance the development of Hanoi’s low-altitude economy and science-innovation industries, drive comprehensive urban development, and ultimately bring benefits to Hanoi residents.”

A WIDER SOUTHEAST ASIAN PUSH

On the sidelines of the 61st Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation, Asia and Pacific Regions, EHang held discussions with civil aviation authorities from Malaysia, Laos, Fiji, Cambodia, the Philippines, Tonga, the Maldives, Bhutan and Nepal on deploying similar sandbox and Fast Track arrangements. Beyond Hanoi, EHang plans to expand to Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, pointing to Vietnam’s tourism growth, which reached nearly 21.2 million international arrivals in 2025 according to official statistics, as a driver of demand for aerial sightseeing and urban low-altitude mobility.
