The delivery makes Uzbekistan the first C-390 Millennium operator in Central Asia, part of a contract signed at the end of 2024 that also covers training, support and spare parts.
Embraer has delivered the first C-390 Millennium multi-mission transport aircraft to the Uzbekistan Air Force, at a ceremony at the manufacturer’s Gavião Peixoto facility in Brazil attended by Major General Akhmad Jamolovich Burkhonov, commander of the Uzbek Air Force, and Olimkhon Bakiyevich Rustamov, director of the Uzbek state institution O’ztextreyd. The delivery makes Uzbekistan the first C-390 Millennium operator in Central Asia, under a contract signed at the end of 2024 that also includes a comprehensive training and support package and the supply of spare parts. “The delivery of the first C-390 Millennium represents a significant step forward for the modernisation of the Uzbekistan Air Force,” said Major General Burkhonov. “The aircraft’s exceptional performance, versatility and multi-mission capabilities will enable us to execute a broad range of missions with greater efficiency and readiness.” Bosco da Costa Junior, president and chief executive of Embraer Defense & Security, said: “We are honoured to deliver the first C-390 Millennium to the Uzbekistan Air Force and welcome Uzbekistan to the growing community of C-390 operators worldwide. The C-390 Millennium can carry up to 26 tonnes of payload, cruises at up to 470 knots and can operate from temporary or unpaved runways, performing missions spanning cargo and troop transport, airdrops, medical evacuation, search and rescue, firefighting and humanitarian relief; fitted with quick-installation air-to-air refuelling equipment, it can also serve as either a tanker or a receiver. Beyond Brazil and now Uzbekistan, the type has been selected by the air forces of Portugal, Hungary, South Korea, the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, Slovakia, Colombia and Lithuania. Embraer, founded in 1969, has delivered more than 9,000 aircraft to date, with one of its aircraft taking off somewhere in the world on average every 10 seconds.
