EMBRAER LAUNCHES LARGEST GLOBAL SOLAR ENERGY PROJECT AT MELBOURNE FACILITY

Melbourne, FL, January 22, 2025 – Embraer, a global leader in the aerospace industry, has embarked on its largest onsite solar energy project to date at its Executive Jets headquarters in Melbourne, Florida. Developed in collaboration with Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) through its FPL SolarVantage program, the project marks a significant step toward Embraer’s commitment to operating on 100% renewable energy by 2030.

This initiative will be the first emissions-free energy source at an Embraer U.S. facility, with the solar installation featuring over 1,900 panels and generating up to 1,800 MWh per year—enough to power most of the Customer Center facility.

Commitment to Sustainability

Embraer CEO Francisco Gomes Neto highlighted the project as a milestone in sustainable aviation:

“Recognizing the urgency of the climate crisis, we understand the importance of transitioning to a low-carbon economy. The need to adapt our industry to this new context presents a significant opportunity for growth and innovation.”

Echoing this sentiment, Michael Amalfitano, CEO of Embraer Executive Jets, emphasized the operational efficiency benefits:

“Transitioning a significant portion of our Melbourne campus energy consumption to a more sustainable model ensures that our industry-leading business jets are backed by an infrastructure as advanced as the aircraft themselves.”

FPL SolarVantage Partnership

FPL SolarVantage provides a turnkey solar solution for companies seeking to integrate renewable energy. The program requires no upfront costs, with FPL managing the design, installation, and maintenance of the solar asset.

Tim Oliver, Vice President of Development at FPL, applauded Embraer’s initiative:

“We are excited to welcome Embraer to our FPL SolarVantage program and support their sustainability goals with an onsite solar installation.”

Towards a Greener Future

Since 2021, Embraer has been advancing its ESG commitments, including an increased adoption of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The new solar project is set to be fully operational by the end of 2025, reinforcing Embraer’s leadership in sustainable aviation innovation.
