C-390 EVOLVES INTO FORCE MULTIPLIER: ANDURIL BARRACUDA-500M INTEGRATION

Embraer Defense & Security and Anduril, the US-based defence technology company, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding at Farnborough to jointly pursue the integration of Anduril’s pallet-launched Barracuda-500M stand-off cruise missile into the C-390 Millennium. The agreement marks a significant evolution of the C-390’s operational identity — from a highly capable multi-mission military transport to an aircraft capable of generating kinetic and non-kinetic operational effects while retaining its core airlift role through roll-on/roll-off mission systems and conventional aerial-delivery procedures.

The Barracuda-500M is designed as an affordable, mass-producible cruise missile to rapidly rebuild and enhance allied munitions inventories. In its palletised variant, the system enables airlift aircraft to launch dozens of munitions simultaneously, unlocking concepts of operation centred around cost-effective, large-scale employment from a platform that can also fly cargo, perform aeromedical evacuations or carry out humanitarian missions on the next sortie. Anduril completed the first successful flight test of the pallet-launched Barracuda-500M in September 2024 and has since conducted dozens of additional flight tests validating the system’s maturity, performance and modularity, including networked collaborative autonomy flights and terminal engagement tests.

Bosco Da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security, said the collaboration marked another important step in the evolution of the C-390 Millennium, expanding its flexibility to meet the evolving needs of modern air forces through stand-off launch capabilities for palletised kinetic and non-kinetic effects. The C-390 has been selected by the air forces of Brazil, Portugal, Hungary, South Korea, the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, Uzbekistan, Sweden, the UAE, Slovakia and Lithuania.

GRIPEN: 20 ADDITIONAL AIRCRAFT TO BE PRODUCED AT GAVIAO PEIXOTO

Embraer and Saab have signed a Heads of Agreement providing a framework for the potential production of 20 additional Gripen aircraft at Embraer’s industrial complex in Gaviao Peixoto, São Paulo State — the only Gripen final assembly line outside Sweden. The agreement marks another milestone in a decade-long partnership and is designed to increase global delivery capacity by complementing Saab’s Linköping assembly line and providing greater flexibility to meet future customer requirements. Da Costa Junior said the expansion reflected the mutual trust built over ten years and reinforced Embraer’s strategic role in the Gripen programme.

UAE: MUBADALA STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK AND STRATA COMPOSITE MOA

Embraer and Mubadala Investment Company have signed a Strategic Framework Agreement at Farnborough establishing a pathway to long-term collaboration across supply, MRO, human capital development and research and development. At the centre of the agreement are Sanad, the Abu Dhabi MRO specialist serving more than 40 global airlines, and Strata Manufacturing, the Al Ain-based aerostructures producer whose workforce is 68% Emirati — for whom the agreement establishes a pathway toward tier-one supplier status on Embraer platforms. Separately, Strata and Embraer have signed a Memorandum of Agreement to evaluate the potential supply of advanced composite aerostructures for the E2 family, with a structured roadmap of technical, commercial and contractual milestones. In 16 years of operation, Strata has delivered more than 115,000 components across global OEM programmes.

COMMERCIAL ORDERS: 28 E2 JETS AND TWO ADDITIONAL E175 FOR FUJI DREAM AIRLINES

Embraer announced 28 firm E2 orders at Farnborough: 20 E195-E2s for Abra Group (subject to fulfilment of certain additional conditions), five E195-E2s for Spain’s Binter, and three E190-E2s for Luxembourg’s Luxair. The three agreements also include 30 purchase options and purchase rights, taking the potential total to 58 aircraft, all to be included in Embraer’s third-quarter 2026 backlog. Separately, Japan’s Fuji Dream Airlines — which maintains a 12-month average schedule reliability above 99.8% and has operated Embraer aircraft since 2009 — has placed a firm order for two additional E175 aircraft for delivery in 2027 and 2028, expanding an all-Embraer fleet of 15 E-Jets.
