ETHIOPIAN AIRLINES TO LEASE TWO BOEING 777-300ERSF FREIGHTERS FROM AERCAP

Ethiopian Airlines has signed lease agreements with AerCap for two Boeing 777-300ERSF converted freighters, with delivery scheduled for the second quarter of 2028.

Fleet expansion

According to the airline, the aircraft will be the first Boeing 777-300ERSF freighters to operate in Africa.

The aircraft type is a converted version of the Boeing 777-300ER passenger aircraft, adapted for cargo operations.

Cargo capacity and efficiency

AerCap stated that the 777-300ERSF offers approximately 25% more capacity compared to smaller twin-engine long-haul freighters.

The aircraft are expected to support Ethiopian Airlines’ cargo operations as demand for air freight continues to grow.

Strategic positioning

Ethiopian Airlines indicated that the addition of the aircraft aligns with its ongoing investment in cargo capacity and fleet modernisation.

The airline operates a global network of passenger and cargo services across more than 160 destinations.
