ExecuJet MRO Services Malaysia has successfully transitioned all six participants in its inaugural apprenticeship programme into full-time positions, reinforcing the company’s long-term strategy to develop skilled aviation maintenance professionals for an increasingly complex industry.
APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME DELIVERS FIRST GRADUATES
All participants join company as full-time employees
ExecuJet MRO Services Malaysia has announced that the first intake of its structured apprenticeship programme has successfully completed training and transitioned into full-time employment at the company’s Kuala Lumpur facility. The programme was established to support the development of future aircraft maintenance professionals and strengthen the aviation industry’s talent pipeline.
The initiative was developed in partnership with Malaysian MRO training organisation D’viation and forms part of the company’s broader workforce development strategy aimed at addressing industry-wide challenges in attracting and retaining skilled technical personnel.
FOCUS ON TECHNICAL FOUNDATIONS
Rigorous selection process implemented
Applicants were required to hold a diploma or degree in engineering or aviation-related disciplines and complete both technical and non-technical assessments, including IQ and emotional quotient evaluations. According to the company, the selection process was designed to identify candidates with strong technical aptitude and the potential to develop into aviation maintenance professionals.
The successful candidates were recruited from several aviation and engineering institutions, including Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT), Aviation Australia and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM).
HANDS-ON TRAINING IN LIVE MRO OPERATIONS
Exposure across multiple maintenance disciplines
During the six-month programme, apprentices worked within ExecuJet MRO Services Malaysia’s maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) environment under the supervision of licensed aircraft engineers. Training covered aircraft maintenance activities across Bombardier, Gulfstream and Dassault Aviation business aircraft platforms.
Practical experience included aircraft maintenance procedures, safety practices, engine removal and installation, auxiliary power unit maintenance, exterior panel work, cabin interior reinstallation, sealant application and paint finishing activities.
The company said the hands-on approach was designed to provide apprentices with direct exposure to operational maintenance environments while developing the practical skills required for long-term careers in aircraft engineering.
INDUSTRY FACES GROWING SKILLS DEMAND
Programme supports long-term workforce development
Suniljit Singh, General Manager Maintenance at ExecuJet MRO Services Malaysia, said the programme reflects the company’s commitment to developing long-term industry capability rather than relying solely on short-term recruitment initiatives.
He noted that as aircraft systems become increasingly sophisticated, the industry faces growing challenges in attracting technically capable young professionals and providing them with the practical experience required to support modern aircraft maintenance operations.
The company said its objective is not only to train apprentices but to develop aviation professionals capable of contributing to the industry’s long-term sustainability and growth.
COLLABORATION SEEN AS KEY TO FUTURE TALENT PIPELINES
Industry and training providers working together
ExecuJet MRO Services Malaysia believes collaboration between aviation employers and training institutions will play an increasingly important role in creating structured career pathways for young professionals entering the sector. The company intends to continue investing in workforce development initiatives designed to strengthen Malaysia’s aviation talent pipeline as technical demands across the industry continue to grow.
