GENERAL ATOMICS AEROTEC SYSTEMS COMPLETES WING AND ENGINE INSTALLATION ON FIRST DO228 NXT

General Atomics AeroTec Systems completes wing and engine installation on first Do228 NXT at Oberpfaffenhofen facility, ahead of planned summer roll-out.

Assembly milestone achieved in Oberpfaffenhofen

General Atomics AeroTec Systems GmbH has reached a further assembly milestone on its first Do228 NXT aircraft, with the installation of the wing and right engine at its facility in Oberpfaffenhofen.

The company confirmed that the fully painted wing was lifted into position using the hall crane and mounted onto the fuselage in what is referred to as the “wedding” process. During this stage, the wing is securely attached to the fuselage with four bolts, marking a key structural integration step in the aircraft’s build sequence.

In addition to the wing installation, the right engine has now been fitted. The company also reported that landing gear tests have been successfully completed.

The milestone represents continued progress towards the roll-out of the first Do228 NXT, which is scheduled for the summer. General Atomics AeroTec Systems stated that the development reflects the work and commitment of its team in Oberpfaffenhofen, as preparations continue for the aircraft’s premiere later this year.
