GULFSTREAM G650 AND G650ER CLEARED FOR GOGO GALILEO HDX CONNECTIVITY FOLLOWING FAA STC

Gulfstream Aerospace has received an FAA Supplemental Type Certificate to install Gogo Galileo HDX on the G650 and G650ER, bringing LEO-powered high-speed in-flight connectivity to one of business aviation’s most established large-cabin platforms.

STC OPENS G650 FLEET TO HIGH-SPEED LEO CONNECTIVITY

Gogo has announced that Gulfstream Aerospace has received a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) to install Gogo Galileo HDX on the Gulfstream G650 and G650ER aircraft. The Galileo HDX is an electronically steered antenna (ESA) designed to provide a compact, lightweight and high-performance connectivity solution for large-cabin business aircraft, powered by Eutelsat’s OneWeb enterprise-grade low earth orbit (LEO) network.

Chris Moore, Chief Executive of Gogo, said the addition of Galileo HDX as an aftermarket option for the G650 and G650ER reflected the growing demand for high-speed connectivity and gave operators access to the latest technology in business aviation. He said operators using the system would experience consistent, high-speed in-flight internet performance, backed by Gogo’s cybersecurity protections and round-the-clock customer support.

TAIL-MOUNTED INSTALLATION AND BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY

Gulfstream’s Under The Radome (UTR) installation positions the Galileo HDX antenna at the tail, a configuration Gogo says minimises downtime during installation, maximises performance and complements the aircraft’s existing design. The system is backwards compatible with existing network equipment and fully integrated with the cabin, and is approved for multiple radome configurations to maximise flexibility and value for operators.

The Galileo HDX delivers high-speed, low-latency connectivity worldwide, supporting simultaneous video conferencing, streaming, communications and internet browsing from multiple devices. Operators will also have access to Gogo’s suite of value-added services, including advanced cybersecurity features and global customer support. Gogo describes the system as future-proof and purpose-built for business aviation, designed to accommodate upgrades as technology requirements evolve.
