H55 REALIGNS ORGANISATION TO SUPPORT COMMERCIALISATION AND EMERGING AEROSPACE MARKETS

Swiss electric aviation specialist H55 is restructuring its organisation following the completion of a major certification programme, repositioning its workforce and operational footprint to support growing demand across electric and hybrid-electric aviation, advanced aerospace energy systems, unmanned aircraft and defence applications.

ORGANISATIONAL RESTRUCTURING FOLLOWS CERTIFICATION MILESTONE

Workforce realignment reflects changing market requirements

 

H55 has announced the completion of an employee consultation process initiated earlier this month as part of a broader review of the company’s activities, customer programmes, business priorities and financing requirements. The restructuring will result in a reduction of 54 positions in Switzerland, lower than the 80 positions initially anticipated following consultations with employees.

 

The company said the decision reflects a broader shift taking place within the electric aviation sector, where the challenge is increasingly focused on transitioning from technology demonstration to commercial deployment and industrialisation. H55’s recent completion of the aerospace industry’s first European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)-witnessed propulsion battery certification test campaign marked a significant milestone in the development of certifiable electric propulsion systems.

 

EXPANDING APPLICATIONS DRIVE STRATEGIC SHIFT

Capabilities increasingly applied beyond conventional electric aviation

 

H55 stated that the expertise developed through its electric aviation programmes now has applications across a broader range of aerospace sectors, including hybrid-electric propulsion, advanced energy management systems, unmanned aircraft systems and defence programmes. The company currently supports aircraft manufacturers, propulsion integrators, aerospace prime contractors and government organisations in areas including energy storage, propulsion integration, certification support and manufacturing readiness.

 

According to H55, its operational experience, certification expertise and industrial capabilities position the company to support emerging aerospace programmes that require high-voltage, high-power energy systems and certifiable propulsion technologies. The workforce restructuring is intended to align the organisation with these evolving market requirements and future growth opportunities.

 

SWITZERLAND REMAINS STRATEGIC CENTRE

Operations consolidated across two sites in Sion

 

H55 confirmed that Switzerland will remain the centre of its research, development, systems architecture and strategic programme management activities. The company will consolidate its Swiss operations across two facilities in Sion.

 

The company’s facilities at Sion Airport will focus on leadership, certification activities, customer engagement, programme management and strategic partnerships, while its Chandoline industrial site will serve as the centre for research and development, testing, industrialisation and manufacturing. H55 said this structure reinforces its long-term commitment to both the Canton of Valais and the Swiss aerospace sector.

 

CANADIAN OPERATIONS TO SUPPORT INDUSTRIAL GROWTH

Transatlantic structure designed to serve expanding markets

 

In parallel with its Swiss operations, H55 plans to strengthen its presence in Canada as customer programmes mature. The company said its Canadian operations will support industrial programmes, customer engagement, strategic partnerships and access to public funding initiatives in North America.

 

Under the revised organisational structure, Switzerland will remain H55’s centre of innovation and strategic leadership, while Canada will support industrial expansion and customer proximity across North America, creating what the company describes as a complementary transatlantic operating platform.
