L3Harris has delivered the first MC-55A aircraft to the U.S. Air Force in support of Australia’s Peregrine programme, providing the Royal Australian Air Force with advanced electronic warfare and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities.
L3Harris Technologies has delivered the first MC-55A aircraft to the United States Air Force, following integration and mission system testing conducted as part of Australia’s Peregrine programme.
The delivery supports the Royal Australian Air Force’s acquisition of missionised business jets through a U.S. foreign military sales arrangement. The aircraft are intended to provide airborne electronic warfare and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities in support of multi-domain operations for Australia and coalition forces.
According to L3Harris, the MC-55A Peregrine is designed to enhance the delivery of critical data for long-range targeting, regional deployments and mission planning. Jason Lambert, President of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance within L3Harris’ Space and Mission Systems segment, said the aircraft will provide information superiority and act as a strategic asset for future Australian Defence Force operations.
The first MC-55A has been delivered by the U.S. Air Force to the Royal Australian Air Force. Subsequent aircraft will remain in U.S. Air Force custody while supporting RAAF training activities and pre-delivery requirements.
L3Harris has also established a field service team in Australia to work alongside local industry partners, providing in-country support for the fleet. The company said ongoing software and hardware upgrades will be implemented to ensure the Peregrine aircraft remain capable of addressing evolving threats and future mission requirements.
