L3HARRIS DELIVERS FIRST OVERHAULED P-8A POSEIDON TO U.S. NAVY

L3Harris Technologies has successfully delivered the first overhauled P-8A Poseidon aircraft to the U.S. Navy’s Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR). The milestone, announced on July 10, 2025, supports the Navy’s strategic operational requirements across maritime and reconnaissance missions.

Under the contract, L3Harris is responsible for program depot maintenance as well as repair and overhaul of NAVAIR’s fleet of 139 P-8A Poseidon aircraft. These multi-mission platforms are critical to long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, maritime patrol, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations. The programme also includes support for foreign military sales of the aircraft.

“We’re keeping the Navy’s fleet mission-ready with this first P-8A delivery,” said Jason Lambert, President of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance at L3Harris. “Our proven expertise in aircraft maintenance enables us to enhance performance and extend fleet longevity.”

Work on the P-8A programme began in 2024 at L3Harris’ aircraft modification facility in Waco, Texas, and is expected to continue through September 2029. In the first year of the contract, L3Harris anticipates up to nine aircraft inductions, with seven aircraft currently undergoing overhaul—all on track for delivery within the year.

This delivery highlights L3Harris’ growing role in sustaining critical defence aviation assets, reinforcing its position as a trusted provider of end-to-end mission solutions across air, land, sea, space, and cyber domains.
